The Science Behind Healing Frequencies

How 432 Hz and 528 Hz Support Brainwave Regulation & Emotional Well-being

Sound healing is based on the principle of entrainment—the brain's natural tendency to synchronize its wave activity to external rhythmic stimuli. When specific frequencies are delivered through music or audio, they can help guide the brain into states associated with relaxation, focus, and healing (e.g., alpha and theta waves).

432 Hz – Resonance with Natural Rhythms

432 Hz is often described as a “natural tuning frequency” that may resonate more harmoniously with the human body and Earth’s electromagnetic field (Schumann resonance ~7.83 Hz). While some claims are anecdotal, emerging studies suggest sound at this frequency may reduce stress and improve mood:

  • In a double-blind study, participants exposed to 432 Hz music reported lower heart rates and significantly higher relaxation than those listening to 440 Hz (standard tuning)

528 Hz – Cellular Repair & Stress Modulation

528 Hz is widely known as the “love frequency” or “miracle tone” and is often associated with cellular regeneration and DNA repair. While those claims remain theoretical, early studies show that exposure to 528 Hz may reduce stress biomarkers and promote balance:

  • One study found that 528 Hz sound waves significantly reduced cortisol levels and increased oxytocin, supporting its calming and restorative potential:

How It Works in Practice

By pairing these healing frequencies with hypnotherapy or guided meditation (as ILIT does), the brain more easily shifts into alpha or theta wave states, which are known to:

  • Reduce anxiety

  • Promote neuroplasticity

  • Increase receptivity to positive suggestions

  • Support emotional release and nervous system regulation
